Background

Stella is studying a Master of Philosophy at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her project is on the role of taxonomic uncertainty on conservation planning for mosses, liverworts and lichens in Antarctica. She is interested in plant taxonomy, ecology, high latitude ecosystems and is passionate about the often-overlooked non-vascular plants.

Stella has a Bachelor of Science in Botany from the University of Otago, New Zealand and has described several new liverworts species for New Zealand.

Securing Antarctica’s environmental future allows us to contribute to meaningful scientific work to ensure the protection of Antarctica’s unique systems and ensure the full value of this wilderness is preserved in perpetuity.
