Background
Noémie Sheppard is a PhD student at Monash University with a background in studying the synergies of climate change and biological invasions. Her PhD research focuses on the impacts of climate change on sub-Antarctic terrestrial biodiversity, with a particular emphasis on vascular plants. Noemie is investigating the dieback of the native Azorella macquariensis cushion plant on Macquarie Island, and trying to untangle the effects of disease on its soil and leaf microbiomes. Additionally, she is exploring the climate-driven expansion of native and invasive grass species in the region.
