Background
Matthias is a community ecologist with interests in macroecology and ecological networks. He has worked on methods for characterizing the functional roles of species in ecological processes, combining data from interaction networks and functional traits, as well as on methods to describe large-scale patterns of taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity. A current focus of Matthias’s research addresses possible consequences of environmental change for species communities and ecological processes.
