Constance Johnson
Dr Constance Johnson is a postdoctoral researcher, in the ARC’s Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF) project, and a lecturer at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) at the University of Wollongong. Constance has had significant experience in the public policy sector and has held positions in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Australian Antarctic Division, WWF-Australia and the Queensland Departments of Premier & Cabinet and Justice & Attorney-General.
Constance’s doctoral studies examined the interaction of governance arrangements for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in the marine Antarctic beyond national jurisdiction.
Her current research work concerns reviewing Antarctic law and governance arrangements that affect Antarctica’s environmental future and examining the governance of marine areas beyond national jurisdiction. Constance has taught at universities in Australia and the Netherlands, presented at domestic and international academic fora and been published internationally.
