Natsumi Penberthy

Natsumi is a former journalist, with eight years + in strategic communications and research-focused reporting and editing. Today, she draws the links between cutting-edge ideas and impactful campaigns, raising awareness for government agencies, tech companies and top tier universities. Her raison d’être is turning complex, seemingly nerdy topics into must-read articles and polished multimedia. Along the way, Natsumi has run science communication workshops and helped organise and moderate thought-leadership panels, both locally and internationally.

Natsumi has extensive experience building native and branded storytelling for clients across APAC that have outperformed global engagement benchmarks. She’s also managed partner supplements for Nature on topics ranging from deep-sea minerals to bioplastics innovation, writing accompanying thought leadership. She hopes to bring Antarctica to life for researchers, politicians and the public, delivering interest, insight and intimacy through stories on Antarctic science.

There should be a sustainable future on the cards for all the world’s ecosystems, particularly those that are still wild and remote.
