Robert Bingham

Rob’s research addresses the causes and pace of polar ice-sheet change, and the contributions of polar ice sheets to global sea levels. Presently he is leading initiatives to acquire new geophysical data across West Antarctica’s Thwaites Glacier (International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration) and to build a 3-D age-depth model across Antarctica from the internal stratigraphy sounded by ice-penetrating radar (AntArchitecture). He also works with colleagues and research students on a variety of additional cryospheric, geophysical and geomorphological projects in locales ranging from Svalbard to Patagonia, applying a range of field and remote-sensing technologies. For SAEF Rob brings his expertise to bear on SAEF research into ice-sheet/climate interactions and ice-sheet mass loss.
