SAEF Director appointed Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Professor

Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Professor Steven Chown FAA during his most recent field trip to Antarctica in 2026

Monash University announced that SAEF Director, Professor Steven Chown FAA was among 42 recipients of the Inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Professorship.

These Professorships are awarded to Monash University Professors who are of sustained international pre-eminence in research or education within their discipline and whose research consistently achieves pioneering breakthroughs and discoveries in their field.

Steven has been at Monash University since 2012, is a Professor of Biological Sciences and the Director of Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future. Steven said he was “Proud and appreciative to receive this distinction from the Vice-Chancellor and Monash University.”
